Job Description
Build and maintain an excellent working relationship with Iqarus clients, their employees and contractors
·Ensure personal CPD and clinical skills are kept up to date
·Compliance with and understanding of relevant legislation, CLIENT’s processes and government regulations
·Dial into fortnightly telecall with all CLIENT sites
·Provide onsite routine health care and advice to offshore personnel in line with Iqarus MSOs
·Provide onsite emergency medical care as required, in line with Iqarus MSOs
·Seek appropriate and timely consultation/advice from Topside service and/or the Medical Advisor
·Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, supported with clear, contemporaneous and concise medical records in line with Client Policy and Iqarus Records & Record Keeping Policy on the MOL2 system.
·Complete a comprehensive handover at the end of each trip
·Management of clinical waste and routine cleaning of the sick bay
·Ensure all medical, first aid equipment and gases are functional, regularly inspected and maintained, including calibration of required items in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines
·Ensure clinical Occupational health practices undertaken are in accordance with the policies of Iqarus
·Maintain professional standards in accordance with current legislation and practice professional registration and continuing professional development and client’s standards
·Ensure emergency medical stations are fully stocked and in full working order
·Maintain and replenish all eye wash.
·Prepare and distribute relevant reports to OIM and/or Medical Advisor
·Plan, implement and participate in emergency response exercises, table tops and drills, and provide review and assurance
·Maintain an effective medical emergency response plan (MERP) for the platform
·Monitor and record declarations of medication.
·Maintain a Controlled Drug Register and store and transport all Controlled Drugs in accordance with UK legislation and Iqarus MSO / operating procedure.
·Lead and train emergency teams and first aiders to ensure an efficient emergency medical response
·Conduct periodic offshore Client staff OGUK medicals for clearance by Occupational Health Physician
·Conduct the Emergency Response Team Members fitness testing
·Support pandemic response and other disease outbreaks
·Cross familiarisation of any alternative Sickbay/First Aid room (rig, flotel, onshore site) working alongside CLIENT sites for any mass casualty/medic down scenario
·Develop and maintain stock levels of over the counter medications, prescription medication and maintain clinical waste Health Planning
·Implement and promote the CLIENT Occupational Health Plan in accordance with the CLIENT SHE&I Plan.
·Maintain all competencies as are required in order to enable the implementation of the CLIENT SHE&I Plan. .
·Carry out health promotion training, information, dissemination and provision of advice to offshore workforce
·Provide effective listening, communication and support to all employees and contractors on the offshore facilities.
·Promote Employee Assistance programs
Occupational Health & Industrial Hygiene Duties
·Fulfil all scheduled Health and Hygiene activities and record all required data for review by Occupational Health:
·Noise assessment, dosimetry and training / COSHH assessment and audit, RPE management & training including face fit testing records / LEV assurance checks / Maintain the platforms chemical inventory in line with the requirements of CMS / HAVS compliance / Dust and Badge monitoring / · Display Screen Equipment / Mercury / Benzene / Asbestos / Maintain the potable water written scheme and carry out the required potable water testing / Administer prescription eyewear program for CLIENT and safety glasses fit checks / Carry out health surveillance program as per CLIENT’s requirements, ensuring accurate records of exposures are being recorded and any concerns raised with Medical Advisor.
·Conduct catering and accommodation hygiene inspections every two weeks
·Ensure meters required for monitoring purposes are regularly checked and fit for purpose
·Participate in any relevant planning process for the purpose of Occupational Health offshore.
·Raise with the CLIENT OIM any aspect of Occupational Health that gives cause for concern.
·Ensure that all aspects of attaining or exceeding full compliance with government regulations regarding Occupational Health are implemented.
·Monitor the standard of welfare facilities and hygiene to ensure they are suitable, sufficient and in accordance with best practice, advise management accordingly
·Attend annual offsite away day
Health and Safety Responsibilities - The Health and Safety Advisor roles and responsibilities shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
·Deliver site Inductions
·Radiation Protection Supervision
·Lead and participate in incident investigation
·Actively participate site audits, twice daily management meetings, three weekly HSE meetings.
·Participation in self-verification activities and interpretation of safety performance data
·Development of emergency response scenarios and facilitation of drills in accordance with Crisis Management, Emergency Response & HSE plans
·Facilitate the development of rescue plans
·Inspect and label known asbestos and update asbestos register provide asbestos awareness training to personnel (Where appropriate)
·Provide practical training for non-licensed work and awareness training to performing authorities
·Advise, coach and support internal stakeholders in meeting HSE policies, Standards, Practices, Guidelines and Regulatory requirements
·Liaise with onshore HSE team regarding regulatory reporting and prepare reports as required
·Participate in Control of Work meetings and Lead or participate in level 2 risk assessments (ORA, SARA, SCRA etc)
·Meet expected leadership time in the field and coach platform personnel
·Compile daily safety message
·Roll out safety initiatives under the instruction of the onshore HSE Team Leader
General Administration -Duties will continue to evolve to accommodate changing requirements and will include (but not be limited to):
·Input any requirements into COMPANY Stream Synergi database
·Conduct the internal and external site safety inductions for all new
·Participate in populating platform mapping system
·Input Obs, Safety Observation and Deal cards into database
Qualifications
Eligible to work, or resident, in the UK
HSE Offshore Medic Certificate
Registered Nurse (Adult), with at least 3 years’ post-graduation experience within one or more of: A&E, ICU, HDU, OOH’s Service, ANP, Medical or Surgical Assessment Unit
OR
Royal Navy Medical Assistant (at Leading Hand or above), OR; Royal Marines Medical Assistance (at Corporal or above), OR; British Army Combat Medical Technician Class 1 (at Corporal or above), OR; Royal Air Force Medical Assistant (at Corporal or above), OR; Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service Medical Technician,
OR
HCPC Registered Paramedic with significant experience in one or more of: Rapid Response, Emergency Care Practitioner, OOH’s Service
