Roles and responsibilities
Ensure that health care is carried out in accordance with best professional standards- and according to relevant internal procedures, and flag state rules and regulations
Perform onboard diagnostics and treatment- included initiation of acute medical treatment in cooperation with Medico support and Client Medical organization for Client personnel
Ensure on board acute medical preparedness and response. Evaluate and organize for any further onshore treatment and care in accordance with contingency procedures and project documentation
Ensure preventive health work. Advise and teach personnel onboard in relevant health- and work environment issues on behalf of Master and in cooperation with Client
Prepare, coordinate and conduct periodical hygiene & health inspections onboard in cooperation with Master
Coordinate and assist QHSE department on surveying, evaluating and follow up of issues concerning health and work environment
Advise and take part in hygiene discussions whenever relevant
Keep & maintain medicine stock and documentation on medical treatment and care in accordance with Procedures and Masters instructions
Participate on performing continuous risk assessments with emphasis on the health factor - also including evaluation and control of substances potentially hazardous to health
Develop safety procedure, checklists, JSA and other necessary ship’s document for day to day operations and keep proper records
Ensure Operations are in compliance with HSE rules/standards and Company SMS and the Company Health and Hygiene Standard
Identify Hazards and install barriers (preventive / protective measures) as applicable with the working teams.
Run (under Captain’s supervision) safety meetings
Promote and implement Safety Campaigns on board
Prepare daily, weekly, monthly HSE reports before submitting to the Master for approval /sending
Organize Drills and training as required by the Company SMS and as deemed necessary to maintain proper knowledge / preparedness of the crew / passengers
Organize the safety actions to be performed in all services
Qualifications, Skills and Experiences
A-VI/1 - Basic Safety Training
A-VI/6.1 – Ship Security Awareness
Medical doctorate
Proficiency in Knowledge and application of Bourbon Risk evaluation and Task planning process
Ability and skills to conduct the meetings and organize the trainings
Skills in Hazard identification and hazard hunts
Knowledge of Bourbon SMS
Specific Certificates based on Ship & Operations specification
