Off-Shore Paramedic

Description:
The Off-Shore Paramedic is the sole provider of primary and emergency health care services to an expatriate workforce and oversees all aspects of clinical medical management within the clinic, inlcuidng medical evacuation support
In addition, is responsible to position International SOS as the principal health care provider in the shoo-shore community

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient Care
Undertake clinical consultations and provide a high standard of service and care to patients attending the clinic
Develop and ensure continuity of patient care and appropriate follow-up and referral
Asssst with the implentation of peventative medical care strategiues, including structuring and performing medical screening services

Manage the delivery of competent and processional health services according to the International SOS standards
Assist with ensuring appropriate patient triage and flow within the clinic
Provide 24 hour non-emergency and emergency medical response to employees on site
Coordinate with the Internaitonal SOS Assistance Centres and Corrdinating Doctors the procedures required and prepartion of patients to facilitate evacuation
Quality Assurance and Administration
Work with the Medical Director to optimise quality assurance and ensure that the appropriate medical outcomes are consistently attained with respect to the provision of clinic services
Ensure patient medical files and documentation is maintained to the highest standards and in accordance with International SOS standards for clinic services
Assist in the maintenance, selection and control of the medical equipment and supplies in the clinic when required
Ensure an effective and organized delivery of medical services through a self audit program
Track and report data on clinic utilization and hygiene inspections
Promotion of International SOS Services
ensure International SOS and the client is represented in a professional manner
Ensure a Continuous Quality Improvement cultrure and system is maintained thorugh out the clinic
Assist in the promotion of International SOS' medical services with the client
Participate in the client's and International SOS' information campaigns on environmental, personal protection, diseases and health promotions

Additional Responsibilities
Act as a medical escort when required for appropriate medical evacuations
Responsible to educate non-medical employees in first aid and CPR
Ensure disaster plans and emergency response plans are maintained
To work within and promote all International SOS' policies, procedures and corporate values
To be aware of International SOS' OH&S policies, practices and procedures and actively participate in the ongoing development and enhancement of these important areas of our business
Experience Required:
Paramedic with 5 years + post graduation experience gained within the paramedic arena - Advanced Care Level and above
ACLS or equivalent protocols
Basic Offshore Safety Induction Emergency Training (BOSIET) or Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET)
Working knowledge of the principles of Paramedic Medicine
Experience with both Primary Care and Emergency Medicine


Education Required:
Required Registration
Appropriate valid Paramedic license and registration in Country of Origin
Other Special Qualifications:
Varied international medical and/or health care sustem experience
Experience in remote area medicine
